November 10, Schoology Information

Dear OCS Elementary Families,

Schoology is the new online Learning Management System (LMS) which replaced Haiku last year. Our students, especially our older elementary students, may utilize Schoology to experience 21st century learning and gain access to class resources and tools.  Our families can utilize Schoology to access important calendar events, learning links, and key classroom highlights. Schoology is a closed system so only those individuals who are invited to participate may do so. All of our parents/guardians will be invited and will receive an access code to set up an account.

One of our goals as a district is to streamline communication as a DK-12 system. We are working to grow our understanding and capabilities of the Schoology system, as well as train our staff and allow time for development at the elementary level. Our usage of Schoology will develop over time.

Our plan at the elementary level is to share access codes with all families in mid January 2024. However, we do have some staff members who may want to start using it earlier. If that is the case, the teacher will send a letter and access code directly to each family beginning this month or any time between now and mid-January 2024.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we onboard a new system, understand its capabilities and how we can best utilize it to serve our students and families at the elementary level over the coming months.

If you would like to learn more about Schoology, please refer to our Parent University page on our district website for helpful videos.

Sincerely,

Anita R. Qonja-Collins
Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Instruction
