February 13, Reports of Concerning Behaviors

Dear Clear Lake Elementary Families,

Clear Lake Elementary School staff recently learned of concerning behaviors by students in a classroom at Clear Lake Elementary. Although we cannot share further details with you due to the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), upon learning of the behaviors threat assessments were conducted by Clear Lake’s threat assessment team including a district school resource officer.  Measures have been taken in line with our student code of conduct to address both discipline and behavior intervention plans.

Parents, please talk to your students and remind them that their words matter, and threatening comments of any kind are not acceptable and will carry severe consequences. Thank you to the students who reported the situations allowing them to be swiftly investigated and addressed.

Please continue to encourage your students to utilize the Ok2Say anonymous reporting tool and/or reach out to law enforcement or school administration with concerning information. The OK2SAY app is available for iOS and Android devices or tips can be reported a https://www.michigan.gov/ok2say website as well.

Best Regards,

Stephanie Niemi

Principal, Clear Lake Elementary
