Dear Clear Lake Families,

Next week kicks off our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive! Students are invited to bring in non-perishable food items (please, no glass jars) from Monday, 11/9, through Thursday, 11/19.

We also want to remind you that Wednesday, 11/11,/26 is Veterans Day. In honor of the holiday, we invite students and staff to wear red, white, and blue as we show our appreciation for the veterans in our Clear Lake family — including our own staff and families who have served.

Thank you for your generosity and school spirit!

Dear Clear Lake Families,

I am writing to communicate that today I placed Clear Lake in a Hold. Under our Standard Response Protocol, a Hold means students and staff remain in their classrooms or other designated areas. Activities in the classrooms continue as usual. Everyone is safe. The hold was in place while staff responded to a student experiencing difficulty near the front entrance.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Stephanie Niemi

Hello OCS Parents & Guardians,

Thank you for using Rooms to stay connected with your child’s teachers! We’re seeing a lot of communication happening between families and staff, and we appreciate your patience as we roll out this new platform across the district. As with any new tool, there’s an adjustment period, and we’re grateful for your flexibility as we all get comfortable with it.

As we continue using Rooms, we’d like to share a few helpful reminders to make communication work well for everyone, particularly if you're sending direct messages to teachers.

  • Please allow up to 24 hours for a response during the school week. Teachers may respond sooner when they’re available, but they aren’t expected to reply immediately. They’re balancing classroom instruction, student needs, planning and many other responsibilities throughout the day.

  • Please be mindful of school and work hours. Teachers are not expected to respond to messages during evenings, weekends or other times they are away from work. You may receive a response during their next available workday.

  • Rooms is a school communication tool. Although messages may feel like texting, please remember that teachers are communicating in their professional roles. Keeping messages respectful and focused on your child’s education helps everyone work together.

  • Some conversations are better handled another way. If a topic would be easier to discuss by phone or in person, a teacher may suggest another way to connect.

Getting started with Rooms

You can access Rooms through the Oxford Community Schools (OxfordGo) app or by logging in through the web version. Sign in using the email address or cell phone number associated with your parent/guardian account.

If you’ve tried logging in with your email address but haven’t been successful, try using your cell phone number instead. Some families have had success with this option.

Still having trouble accessing your account? Please contact the front office of your child’s school for assistance. Access issues are often related to the contact information we have on file in PowerSchool, and our school teams can help determine what needs to be updated.

We’re excited about the opportunities Rooms provides to strengthen communication between families and our schools. Thank you for your patience, understanding and partnership as we continue learning and improving together!

Sincerely,

Oxford Community Schools

Oxford Community Schools is closed today, Tuesday, October 13, 2026, due to damage to the fiber optic cable serving the district. This damage has disrupted several essential district systems, affecting our ability to operate schools.

We anticipate that repairs will be completed today, but not in time for school to be held as scheduled.

Information and updates on afterschool and evening activities will be shared on social media and posted to our district website, https://oxfordschools.org.

Thank you,

Hello Oxford Families,

We are reaching out with an update about tomorrow’s school day.

As of 8:30 p.m. tonight, all district school buildings have power but are without internet access due to a damaged fiber optic line along M-24. This disruption has also affected school phone service and other essential systems, which may impact our ability to operate schools tomorrow, Tuesday, October 13.

We are hopeful service will be restored by morning so school can proceed as scheduled. We are sharing this information tonight so families can prepare for the possibility of a closure, including making tentative child care arrangements if needed.

A decision about school operations will be made in the morning and we will provide an update then.

Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,

Oxford Community Schools

Dear Clear Lake Families,

This afternoon we had our annual AED/Cardiac safety drill. This safety drill reviewed the Standard Response Protocol language of "Hold" in classrooms/areas while the Clear Lake AED/Cardiac team attended to a pretend medical emergency. The Standard Response Protocol language allows students and staff to learn common language while allowing flexibility in the protocol depending on the situation or emergency occurring. This drill was also facilitated with the Oxford Fire Department.

By law we are required to run three drills related to safety/security, two tornado drills, and five fire drills during the school year. After drills are conducted we always document on our Clear Lake web page and sent through School Messenger.
