This afternoon we had our 2nd fire drill for the school year. By law we are required to have 5 fire drills, 2 tornado drills, 2 ALICE drills and 1 safety/Cardiac Team drill. Drills are documented on our Clear Lake web page and will be communicated through our after a drills has been conducted.

Crews were able to repair the damaged fiber line, and internet connectivity to the district has been restored. We anticipate that school will take place as scheduled tomorrow, Wednesday, October 14.
Tonight’s Board of Education meeting will also take place as planned at 6:30 p.m. at Oxford Elementary School.

School cancellation messages were sent this morning by text, phone call, email and through the Oxford Go app. If you did not receive a message through one or more of these channels, please check your email’s spam or junk folder and make sure your contact information is current in PowerSchool. You can update your information through the PowerSchool Parent Portal or contact your building’s front office during school hours for assistance.

Oxford Community Schools is closed today, Tuesday, October 13, 2026, due to damage to the fiber optic cable serving the district. This damage has disrupted several essential district systems, affecting our ability to operate schools.
We anticipate that repairs will be completed today, but not in time for school to be held as scheduled.

Hello Oxford Families,
We are reaching out with an update about tomorrow’s school day.
As of 8:30 p.m. tonight, all district school buildings have power but are without internet access due to a damaged fiber optic line along M-24. This disruption has also affected school phone service and other essential systems, which may impact our ability to operate schools tomorrow, Tuesday, October 13.
We are hopeful service will be restored by morning so school can proceed as scheduled. We are sharing this information tonight so families can prepare for the possibility of a closure, including making tentative child care arrangements if needed.
A decision about school operations will be made in the morning and we will provide an update then.

Today is Fall Count Day!
Every day matters when it comes to attendance but on Fall Count Day it is especially important! On this day the state of Michigan uses our attendance numbers to allocate funding per public school student. If your child must miss school due to illness or another appointment please make sure to call the Clear Lake attendance line 248-969-5250.

This afternoon we had our annual AED/Cardiac safety drill. This safety drill reviewed the Standard Response Protocol language of "Hold" in classrooms/areas while the Clear Lake AED/Cardiac team attended to a pretend medical emergency. The Standard Response Protocol language allows students and staff to learn common language while allowing flexibility in the protocol depending on the situation or emergency occurring. This drill was also facilitated with the Oxford Fire Department.
By law we are required to run three drills related to safety/security, two tornado drills, and five fire drills during the school year. After drills are conducted we always document on our Clear Lake web page and sent through School Messenger.

This is a reminder that tomorrow, Thursday, 9/24/26, is our first early release day of the year. Please make sure to communicate any changes in dismissal to your child's classroom teacher. We still will follow a staggered dismissal with our DK/Kindergarten students at 12:10PM and the rest of the grades at 12:15PM.
