Dear Clear Lake families,
Today, grade level classrooms completed ALICE drill #1. Teachers read aloud the book "I'm Not Scared, I'm Prepared! Because I Know All About ALICE" and students practiced inserting the nightlock into their classroom door. Specials teachers will also review with classes where their nightlock is located within their classroom. Since Specials teachers do not see classes daily, they will review the information the first time the class sees them this week.
It is also emphasized during this drill the importance of listening and following adult directions during an emergency.
There will be one more ALICE drill this school year and is tentatively scheduled for 12/16/25.

This afternoon we had our 3rd fire drill for the school year. This drill meets the state requirement to have completed 3 fire drills by December. By law we are required to have 5 fire drills, 2 tornado drills, 2 ALICE drills and 1 safety/Cardiac drill.

This is a reminder that there is no school for students tomorrow, Tuesday, 11/4/25.
We are also still collecting any unwanted Halloween candy for our annual Treats for Troops until Thursday, 11/6/25. Our annual Oxford/Orion FISH Food Drive is also still going on until 11/20/25.

This is a reminder that today, 10/31/25, is an early release day.
We hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween night! Starting on Monday, 11/3/25 we will have collection boxes for any unwanted Halloween candy. All candy will be donated to Treats for Troops. Collection will go until Thursday, 11/6/25. Please make sure to put candy in a bag for easy collection.

This morning we had our annual AED/Cardiac safety drill. This safety drill reviewed the Standard Response Protocol language of "Hold" in classrooms/areas while the Clear Lake AED/Cardiac team attended to a pretend medical emergency. The Standard Response Protocol language allows students and staff to learn common language while allowing flexibility in the protocol depending on the situation or emergency occurring. This drill was also facilitated with the Oxford Fire Department.
By law we are required to run three drills related to safety/security, two tornado drills, and five fire drills during the school year. After drills are conducted we always document on our Clear Lake webpage and sent through School Messenger.

This is a reminder that tomorrow morning, 10/23/25 is Picture Retake Day! This is for any student that was absent on picture day or any student that needs to have their picture retaken. Please email or send in a note with your child to confirm with their classroom teacher.
We could use two more volunteers to help with picture retake day. Volunteers will be picking up/dropping off students to and from class as well as assisting in the picture retake location. This afternoon, there was a medical emergency for a student and EMS was called. Some classrooms did have to go into a hold to give EMS space to enter and exit the building. We appreciate our students and staff for being caring and principled so the student could receive the medical assistance they needed.

Students and staff did a great job following the Standard Response Protocol and did so quickly and calmly so that the student could receive the medical assistance they needed.
