Christmas Spirit Week 2025
Cookie Exchange 2025

Dear Clear Lake families,
Today, we had our second ALICE Drill of the 25-26 school year. This drill included an announcement to read each part of ALICE, reviewing how the mass notification system works, reading what the recording of the mass notification system message is for "lockdown", all classrooms inserting the nightlock, and discussing the importance of following adult directions during an emergency. For families, we have included what each letter stands for in ALICE below.

By law we are required to have three Safety/Security Drills with two that involve lock down procedures during the school year. This drill meets our requirement for the school year. Drills are documented on our Clear Lake web page and will always be communicated through School Messenger after a drill has been conducted.

What does ALICE stand for?
• A = Alert-We will get the word out using clear concise language and describe the location of the event.
• L = Lockdown-This includes locking the door, using night lock system, and barricading so as to deny entry.
• I= Inform-Continual communication keeping students and staff informed to allow for good decision making.
• C=Counter-Apply skills of movement, noise, distance, distractions and using overwhelming numbers to gain control of the situation, as is age and ability appropriate. This is only if evacuation and lockdown is not possible.
• E=Evacuate-Leave premises, reduces chances of injuries.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Dear Clear Lake families,
Today, grade level classrooms completed ALICE drill #1. Teachers read aloud the book "I'm Not Scared, I'm Prepared! Because I Know All About ALICE" and students practiced inserting the nightlock into their classroom door. Specials teachers will also review with classes where their nightlock is located within their classroom. Since Specials teachers do not see classes daily, they will review the information the first time the class sees them this week.
It is also emphasized during this drill the importance of listening and following adult directions during an emergency.
There will be one more ALICE drill this school year and is tentatively scheduled for 12/16/25.

Our goal with ALICE training, and with all of our security measures, is to assure, as much as possible, the safety of every child and every adult in our school buildings. If you have any questions please contact Principal, Stephanie Niemi at stephanie.niemi@oxfordschools.org.

Dear Clear Lake Families,

This morning we had our annual AED/Cardiac safety drill. This safety drill reviewed the Standard Response Protocol language of "Hold" in classrooms/areas while the Clear Lake AED/Cardiac team attended to a pretend medical emergency. The Standard Response Protocol language allows students and staff to learn common language while allowing flexibility in the protocol depending on the situation or emergency occurring. This drill was also facilitated with the Oxford Fire Department.

By law we are required to run three drills related to safety/security, two tornado drills, and five fire drills during the school year. After drills are conducted we always document on our Clear Lake webpage and sent through School Messenger.
