Clear Lake Weekly Notes

Dear Clear Lake Families,

We hope you have had a great week! As you know, this past Monday marked the first day all of our students were back together again after our staggered start to the school year. We've enjoyed having all of our students back in the building each day.

On Tuesday of this past week (September 15th), our district sent out important information regarding student attendance and case reporting. Please make sure you have read this email if you haven't already done so. Information regarding protocol for being sent home/returning to school due to coronavirus symptoms are specifically outlined. Should you have questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. In the meantime, continue to adhere to the Family Pledge and closely monitor your child's health before sending him/her to school each day.

Our teachers have been learning a great deal about their student's academic strengths and areas of growth over the past couple of weeks. Students are assessed daily and in multiple ways. Students take an assessment, referred to as a screener, in both reading and math three times each year (September, January, May) which provides an overview of each student's present level in those content areas compared to their peers both locally and nationally. Teachers are then able to hone in on specific skills and concepts through a diagnostic assessment. These assessments are crucial in helping develop goals for students, closing learning gaps, and helping students build a growth mindset as they approach their learning. We look forward to sharing with you the gains your student has made as the year progresses.

Thank you for your cooperation during student arrival and dismissal each day. We are monitoring our practices daily to help ensure our students are as safe as possible. Please park in the parking lot should you need to exit your vehicle and wear a mask should you opt to exit your vehicle to pick up your student. Thank you!

Please note that students do not have school next Friday, September 25th. Enjoy your weekend!
