September 2014

Welcome to my classroom! I am originally from Southeastern Michigan, where I graduated with my Bachelors in Education from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Shortly thereafter, my husband and I moved to Colorado where I pursued my teaching career as well as obtained my Masters in Education- specializing in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in Literacy. I had the wonderful opportunity to teach in Denver, Colorado for five years- ranging from K-4th grades. In addition, I was honored to be part of an innovative program within Denver Public Schools focusing on data-driven instruction surrounding the Common Core State Standards.

My husband and I recently moved back to Michigan with our 2 young boys, to be closer to family! I am happy to be part of Oxford Schools, working at Clear Lake Elementary!

I believe each and every child has something unique to offer to the world. Each child needs a caring and secure atmosphere where they can grow on a variety of levels. Children have opened my eyes to the diversity in the world and all that is out there for them to adapt to. My goal is to give children the tools to create their own garden of knowledge. In showing children to become responsible for themselves and their learning, I am in turn giving them the tools to become successful in life, love and respect themselves and others, and most importantly teach them to believe in themselves.
