Welcome to First Grade! I am very excited to be your child’s teacher and look forward to our year together! I am a resident of Rochester, Michigan and a native of northern Illinois. I began my teaching career in 1994 working for the Peoria Public Schools in Peoria, Illinois teaching first grade. During this time I served in many capacities: classroom teacher, reading specialist, reading curriculum coordinator, and lead teacher. I am a graduate of Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Additionally, I have a Masters in Reading and Literacy from Marygrove College. I want to make sure your child feels respected, acknowledged, loved, and honored as a learner in my classroom. I hope to impart upon your child my passion and desire to be a lifelong learner.

When I am not in school I am spending time with my husband and two boys. We are typically busy with team sports such as baseball and swim team. However, in my free moments I enjoy bike riding, reading a great book, relaxing at the pool, or traveling.
